Laufskálarétt is one of the most famous round ups in Iceland.

Famous breeding farms have their horses there in the highlands during summer.

Some are offered for sale at the event. 

 

We combine riding with a free running herd with visiting one of the most famous horse-roundups

in Iceland. We will ride along the Lake Hóp, cross it on the second day

and visit some historic places on the way.

We will then also attend the horse-show in Sauðarkrókur which is always a lot of fun.

The Laufskálarétt is located close to the University for horsemanship in Hólar.

It is great to see the mares with foals and young horses coming together in Kolbeinsdalur

before they are sorted by owners. It is a big festival for farmers and familys

and attracts visitors from all over the world.
 

Every night we return to our farm where we stay overnight,

while the horses rest  at different locations at the end of each riding day.
